RMA (Cambodia) PLC has taken another significant step forward in Cambodia's automotive industry by investing in local automotive parts manufacturing.

During a recent meeting between Mr. Ngorn Saing, CEO of RMA Cambodia PLC, and the Council for the Development of Cambodia (CDC), the company reaffirmed its commitment to advancing Cambodia's automotive sector through the establishment of an automotive parts manufacturing facility and the expansion of its investments in the Cambodian market.

This marks an exciting milestone and a source of national pride for Cambodia, as the country's automotive manufacturing industry is now capable of producing automotive components locally to meet the growing demand of the domestic market. The project is expected not only to contribute to national economic growth and create substantial employment opportunities for local communities, but also to deliver significant benefits to existing Ford customers and future customers who aspire to own a Ford vehicle.

Through its latest investment, the Ford vehicle manufacturing plant has advanced to the next stage by establishing a local automotive parts production line equipped with state-of-the-art robotic manufacturing technology. This investment is designed to enhance production capacity, improve manufacturing efficiency, and ensure consistently high product quality. It also demonstrates RMA Cambodia's readiness to elevate its manufacturing capabilities while ensuring that the new local parts production line operates efficiently and meets international manufacturing standards.

This represents a carefully planned and long-term strategic milestone for RMA (Cambodia) PLC as it leads Cambodia's automotive industry into a new era. As one of the country's pioneers in local automotive parts manufacturing, the company is helping to build a stronger domestic automotive ecosystem. This achievement not only reflects RMA Cambodia's remarkable growth but also serves as a point of national pride, demonstrating Cambodia's ability to manufacture and supply world-class automotive products that meet global quality standards.

It is worth noting that RMA Cambodia's Ford vehicle assembly plant commenced operations in 2022 on a site covering more than five hectares, with an initial investment of US$21 million. The facility began operations under the Complete Knock-Down (CKD) production model, representing the first phase of the manufacturing process, where imported vehicle components are assembled into complete vehicles.

Building on this foundation, the company has invested an additional US$26.8 million to upgrade its manufacturing operations to the Incomplete Knock-Down (IKD-1) production level while expanding the facility to approximately 12 hectares. Unlike the CKD process, the IKD-1 production model incorporates local manufacturing of selected automotive components, representing a significant advancement from vehicle assembly to actual component production.

All Ford manufacturing processes comply with internationally recognized automotive standards established by the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE) of the United States, in collaboration with organizations such as the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) and the International Organization for Standardization (ISO). Vehicles produced at the plant are assigned internationally recognized Vehicle Identification Numbers (VINs) and World Manufacturer Identifier (WMI) codes, carrying the distinguished "Made in Cambodia" label.
